My main reasons for liking Linux are more than just, its free, its a great operating system or its just plain ol’ better than Windows, I use Linux for those reasons of course
but i really just love to get down into config files and mess with them and figure out what makes things tick. Linux has excited me from the moment i first ran 6.06!
About a year ago or more i first ventured into the world of Linux, it was very different then what i have been used to, of course Windows. It took me a year of just testing livecds to get enough courage to install and use Linux over a month. Then finally i deleted my windows vista off my computer and i was done! Now what I love is messing with the command line and tweaking my system.
What really peaks my interests as of now, is messing with very minimal systems that use very little system resources, such as JWM (just scratched the surface with this one) openbox, fluxbox, command line, and etc.. they just fascinate me, here of lately i’ve been using my laptop (4gb ram, 2.2ghz processor, etc..) as a command line learning tool, yes i know that sounds like a waste.. but its the learning experience i’m looking after.
My goal is to just learn as much as i can about Linux in general.
What distro do i use? I mainly use Ubuntu for almost everything, what I Love about Ubuntu is apt-get! the community! and much much more. I prefer anything debian based. I”ve tried arch, not for very long though, and just plain ol’ command line with ubuntu, I’ve tried just about every mainstream distro there is.. but not very extensively though, I don’t want to give myself credit where credit is not due.
